It was 1992. My son, a high school senior, watched me as I struggled to type my 20+ pages without errors for my college course. After several hours of this, he couldn’t take it anymore. He told me it was time for me to move into the 20th century and use his computer. He taught me about the ins and outs of creating documents. Then he told me, “Save your work!”
This morning, as I wrote the scripture reflection blog, the first thing I did after opening the template was put the date on the first line and then save it as a new file. I knew that after that, my computer would autosave as I forged ahead. I remembered, for some reason, my son’s last piece of advice. And then I read the readings for the day – for Palm Sunday. And it hit me. The LORD is passionate about saving His work.
Today marks the beginning of the holiest week of the year. We remember and we celebrate the LORD’s desire for us and our salvation. We read and seek to understand the breadth of the LORD’s desire and the depth of the LORD’s love. We grapple with the LORD’s desire to save His work.
This week, as daily we observe the unfolding salvific story, let us focus on the LORD’s loving desire that we, His work, will be saved.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
