Date: Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle/ Wednesday of the 13th Week in Ordinary Time
Scripture Text: Ephesians 2:19-22
Brothers and sisters:
You are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone. Through him the whole structure is held together and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord; in him you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Breaking the text open – background and summary:
The first reading for today from the Letter to the Ephesians calls us to loving community with one another and cooperation with one another as the living Body of Christ, according to the will of the Father in the Spirit.
Meditating on the text with personal questions:
Am I trying to make this journey by myself? How am I joining with others for love of the LORD and my sisters and brothers?
Praying:
LORD, Almighty Father, You sent your beloved and only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to dwell among us, to reveal your love for us, to teach us “the Way and the Truth and the Life.” Send your Spirit to rouse among us the grace of cooperation so that we might more fully embrace your love for us and will for us, to become one, no longer strangers, and to become your dwelling place. Grant that we may remain in You as You and your Son remain in us. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.
