Date: Monday of the 3rd Week of Advent
Scripture Text: Psalm 25:4-5ab, 6 and 7bc, 8-9
R. (4) Teach me your ways, O Lord.
Your ways, O LORD, make known to me;
teach me your paths,
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my savior.
R. Teach me your ways, O Lord.
Remember that your compassion, O LORD,
and your kindness are from of old.
In your kindness remember me,
because of your goodness, O LORD.
R. Teach me your ways, O Lord.
Good and upright is the LORD;
thus he shows sinners the way.
He guides the humble to justice,
he teaches the humble his way.
R. Teach me your ways, O Lord.
Breaking the text open – background and summary:
The responsorial psalm for today reminds us as we pray of the LORD’s loving care and compassion for us and spurs us on to seek the LORD’s guidance in our lives.
Meditating on the text with personal questions:
Do I seek the LORD’s guidance for my life? Do I seek to understand the LORD’s ways that will lead me home?
Praying:
LORD, always and everywhere your love for us is clear and manifested in your power and presence at work. Teach us your ways, O LORD, and grant us the spirit of cooperation with your love and your will for us now and always. Amen.
