Tuesday of Holy Week
Scripture Text: Psalm 71:1-2, 3-4a, 5ab-6ab, 15 and 17
R. I will sing of your salvation.
In you, O LORD, I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
In your justice rescue me, and deliver me;
incline your ear to me, and save me.
R. I will sing of your salvation.
Be my rock of refuge,
a stronghold to give me safety,
for you are my rock and my fortress.
O my God, rescue me from the hand of the wicked.
R. I will sing of your salvation.
For you are my hope, O LORD;
my trust, O God, from my youth.
On you I depend from birth;
from my mother's womb you are my strength.
R. I will sing of your salvation.
My mouth shall declare your justice,
day by day your salvation.
O God, you have taught me from my youth,
and till the present I proclaim your wondrous deeds.
R. I will sing of your salvation.
Breaking the text open – background and summary:
The responsorial psalm for today speaks to us especially in this holiest of weeks, reminding us of the LORD’s loving care
Meditating on the text with personal questions:
Have I opened myself to the LORD and depended upon the LORD? Have I shared with others my experiences of the LORD’s love and presence in my life?
Praying:
LORD, You are our hope. During this holiest of weeks, we look back and recognize your power and your presence are at work in our world, in our lives, in us. Father, Son, and Spirit, we see your love for us and your desire that we have life and have it in abundance. Grant that as we go forward, we may incline our ears to your Word more intently and that we may open our minds to your will more fully. May we open our hearts more perfectly to your love and to your presence. May we remain in You and allow You to remain in us. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
